Ferguson police released a report today detailing a robbery before the fatal shooting last week of 18 year-old Michael Brown. Chief of police Jackson held a press conference early Friday morning.
Here is a copy of the report on the Ferguson convenience story robbery.
Michael Brown was 6′ 4″ and 292 pounds.

Seizure of private property must be reasonable - need probable cause unless exigent circumstances could be proved. Possibly could use exigency as an excuse. Was that their REAL reason? The law doesn’t care about ulterior police motives. It only cares if they had PC or an exception to PC, like exigency. If not the seizure was illegal.
There are still some misguided FReepers here who won't accept that. Geeeez.... I purposely avoided posting on this matter, until I knew more of the story started gelling. There are a lot of imperfect cops, but I would seriously doubt if any would see any winning scenario unfolding from shooting someone without reason.
No, my point isn’t that there aren’t bad cops, my point was that some people, not necessarily you, were making hysterical claims about ALL!!! policemen being crazy, gun-wielding thugs who were eager to shoot any citizen for breathing wrong. Admit that many people have gone overboard in their criticism of police. We’d all like to weed out bad cops as much as bad criminals. Smearing all cops as evil is just wrong and stupid.
...and the posted police report that identifies both Michael Brown and his partner who was at the shooting scene.
If you look closely, you'll see the shorts are down around his A$$, as usual ....Same guy minutes apart
“Well, this information can be a game changer, cant it?”
Yes it can. Suddenly the real question can become: why were the looters/arsonists so quick to victimize the innocent & unrelated on such a tenuous and non-sequitur a pretext? Such behavior has absolutely nothing to do with a possible “bad cop incident”, yet a huge number of people who knew nothing of that incident went absolutely feral all at once. Cop shoots suspect ... so ... loot and burn down a QT store? WTF?
Many of the organized/bussed-in protesters I can understand: they’re looking for any opportunity to stomp around waving signs and chant slogans about their favorite imputed outrage; those wanting to protest police had an excuse to here. They came, they protested, they got tear-gassed etc as they wanted to, they fled, they left. No new information will change their game, as they don’t want action/solutions, just a forum.
Some protesters make real sense: genuinely demanding accountability and order where the government was abdicating it, and genuinely dismayed at the amazing & misplaced show of force (militarized riot control imposed on basically peaceful protesters, while unrelated mass looting/burning/rioting was left alone? WTF?). New information can appease/dissuade them, as the gears of justice start moving in the right direction ... and reveal that their “good boy” wasn’t.
But the criminal rioters... They’re the ones that puzzle and concern me. Why did allegations of a “bad shoot” lead to violence unrelated thereto? How thin, really, is the veneer of society in some places? and how soon might that conflagration come to my neighborhood?
The big outrage is being deflated. Police brutality wasn’t after all, so whence the civic brutality of looters & friends?
“[Was] the store Brown robbed was the one burned to the ground?”
Very interesting question. May answer the question/rant I just posted. Let me know when it’s confirmed either way.
“OK, Mr. Literal. You know as well as I do if the gunshots were at any meaningful distance, the cop is dead meat. You also know if they went into his back, the cop is dead meat.”
The DRT photos clearly show he wasn’t shot in the back. The only witnesses turned out to be involved in the robbery.
If the jumbo thug was coming at him it doesn’t matter if it was 5’ or 50’ he was shot at, jumbo thug had already attacked the cop in the car.
Reading the comments in the thread show it in black and white, pictures included at no extra charge.
So this sweet innocent little boy had just assaulted a store clerk about 2 feet shorter than him.
What will they do now that they found out the cop is also a member of America’s first victim group?
Will they say “It doesn’t matter. Cops are still racist and we demand more black cops”?
Will they just drop it?
Will our fearless leader go on TV and say that it all was just a minor incident and that there’s nothing to see there at all?
1 fact explains it all. The fact that the race of the cop changes ANYTHING in the debate proves that America is ruled by race-mongers who take advantage of every opportunity to build up their power.
So St Trayvon was coming home to mix up purple drank with the tea and skittles he bought and assaulted a smaller guy in the process. Michael Brown was heading home after stealing some blunts from a store where he assaulted a smaller guy so he can smoke pot..
Sounds like two bullies decided to pick on the wrong people.
A woman? That would make it incredibly worse.
Was he on PCP or crack and outta mind like he was outta hand?
no toxicology report released yet? How long do those take? No doubt it had to be sent to St Louis or another city to do
Hopefully when the tox report comes out, things will significantly quiet down. Doing the math, stealing cigars and then confronting an armed policeman adds up to some likely “influence” chemicals in that thug.
Yes I am conservative. The whole shebang...I live in Mass, I hate Romney, I am pro life, anti Obama, and I generally despise my neighbors. I own a pick up truck (american made) and I drive an off road motorcycle. I own a bunch of guns. I shoot every couple of weeks. I don’t hunt, but I have and I could live off the land quite well. I went to a military college, and a medical issue kept me from going into the Naval Aviation program (It took them two years of waiting around to tell me I could not go.) Several of my close friends are field grade or general grade officers. So, while not a vet, I have a much better understanding than the average “civilian” of the mil life. I am married, two wonderful daughters, a soon to be son in law who also graduated from a mil academy who is a 1St in the Army.
OK...are those credentials good enough?
When are we going to stop taking speculation on the internet as gospel. I have not seen the body. I saw fuzzy pictures of him laying in the street. So, saying you KNOW he was not shot in the back is quite a leap.
I saw the pictures of him in the store. I understand why he was shot. I understand that he roughed up the cop in the cap.
What I said is if he was unarmed and he was not posing an immediate threat to this cop, there is to justification for shooting him. If he was 30 feet away (as the reports say—and that is why I am couching the comment) he could not possibly be posing an immediate threat. Why is that difficult to disagree with?
I have had guns pointed at me. I know what piss-your-pants scared is. I understand why a frightened cop might have felt an immediate threat. I get all that.
IF—and I know this has yet to be proven—he was shot in the back, then all bets are off. I am sure you would agree that shooting anyone, who is unarmed and putting distance between you is a wrong call.
Would I vote to convict the cop right now? Nope. But I am still waiting for facts.
What I do not get is how everyone around here is jumping to the opposite conclusions about this shooting. It IS possible the cop got it wrong. It IS possible the cop was just pissed at the kid for beating on him.
Note—I am not stating this kid is an angel or even innocent. I think it is clear he is a thug. But thugs do this stuff every day without getting shot by the cops.
NVRs (Network Video Recorders) are replacing DVRs for just such an emergency. The video is live streamed off site and saved in a cloud. I don’t know if that is the case here. But it seems likely.
I think there is still a lot of speculation in both directions. Now, however, there seems to be a lot more compelling evidence that this thug instigated, and received the responding consequences.
As far as not being armed, realize that this guy is pretty much sasquatch, and can invoke a lot a bodily damage without a weapon. Also, since there was bodily contact, how did the cop not know that there may have been a knife? As you alluded, I think the moral and legal culpability of the cop will rest on whether he was shot in the back or not. Until official word from autopsy clarifies this, all we can do is speculate.
No, he had walked half a mile from 9101 W Florissant to 2943 Canfield Dr where he was shot.
But they do not show it.
Show me an autopsy report. Show me the forensic firearms report. its not going to take long for them to come out. Show me photos of the body. Show me photos of the cop. Show me the photos where the gun when off in the car.
I do not care about eyewitnesses. The investigation will settle this. Just like it did with Trayvon.
The kid was no angel. The kid beat up on the store owner.
I want to see some evidence that the kid was facing the cop, that his hands were not in the air (where the bullets went will indicate that.) If there are videos on the cel phones, I want to see those too.
Read the comments and the thread? You mean the one plastered with pictures of another black cop who had nothing to do with this whole thing? Yeah...those comments are reliable.
Everyone needs to relax and wait for the facts.
