While giants like Amazon see the future so do I.

Currently I run XBMC on a device like FireTV.

XBMC is open source and free.

Amazon will shut that down eventually if they get the market, but you should be able to get content ala carte rather than pay for 200 channels of praline and d***

We cut the dish/cable cord about three years ago and have not looked back and I have yet to find a show or sporting event that we can not watch on the internet.

Cable/Dish is in a downward spiral.

People our age and older still cling to the old way of consuming video and audio content. My daughter's generation has a tendency to use the internet only and as they grow older their's will become the normal way to consume video and audio content.
