A tea party-backed candidate asked a Mississippi court on Thursday to declare him the winner of the June 24 Republican runoff against incumbent U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran or order a new election.

Certified results of the June 24 runoff show Cochran defeated McDaniel by 7,667 votes. But McDaniel says his campaign found thousands of irregularities, including about 3,500 people who voted in the June 3 Democratic primary and June 24 runoff. Mississippi voters don't register by party, but such crossover voting is prohibited.

I have read several articles and I am sure the court will not rule before SOS must approve ballot. I wonder if there has been a case where an individual won a general election but later the election was overturned because of a primary challenge.

And by the way, McDaniel’s web page still irresponsibly accuses Democrats of “stealing” the election. It is a serious allegation, but one not backed by the evidence. Such charges are pernicious when they are not backed by proof. For weeks McDaniel promised that proof and has not delivered.

Sounds like a democrat.

McDaniel win would be best.

Childers (Democrat) win would be second best as he is supported by NRA, Democrats for Life, and has earned National Right to Life’s “exemplary pro-life voting record” while in Congress.

Cochran win would be bad by rewardimg bad behavior.

It's not the lack of evidence. It's the seriousness of the charges that require investigation.

I bet after the primary the Barbours and Joe Noseph and probably Phil Bryant met while Thad was eating tapioca somewhere. They realized that their money was going to be cut off real fast as they saw a massive defeat coming in the runoff. Time for the hail Mary to save them they came up with a plan, to throw their own party under the bus. What would they thought? The base is stupid and they could always gin up fear come November to pull this off.

He has compiled the evidence.

The evidence needs to be analyzed piece by piece.

Simple ‘name cross out’ on a democrat ledger doesn’t cut it with me as evidence that that person did not vote but was “mistakenly’ written in as having voted.

I’m not a big Cochran person but McDaniel is not what he tells he is either. And I for one don’t want him in DC for 60 years. McDaniel is a Civil Rights lawyer not to be trusted. The only reason he is in GOP is he knows he would never win as a Dems. Pure & simple. The Tea Party got took (sucked in) on this man……and yes I’ve been to Tea Party meetings also.

McDaniel is a Civil Rights lawyer not to be trusted.

His areas of concentration suggest that Civil Rights was a minor part of a broad general practice. From Wikapedia...

McDaniel joined the law firm of Hortman Harlow Bassi Robinson & McDaniel,[2][11] becoming a partner in 2003. His areas of concentration include Litigation, Insurance Defense, Corporate Law, Products Liability, Commercial Litigation, Consumer Products Litigation, Mass Tort Litigation, Complex Multi-Party Litigation, Legislation, Constitutional Law & Civil Rights.

Childers has a 100% NRA rating too, however.

Where is Cochran on abortion? Childers is strongly pro-life.

I stand by original preferences:
#1 Best case: McDaniels wins his challenge, defeats Cochran, defeats Childers in general;
#2 Fallback: Childers defeats Cochran in general, undermining attempts by liberals to sabotage primary (I cannot imagine liberals want a pro-life gun toting Dem.);
#3 Worst case: Cochran defeats Childers in general, and the libs in the GOPe - again - get their own way like unpunished spoiled children.
