I’m sure Governor Perry will give them every possible tool to do their job. He’s stepped out where all the other governors are still hiding in their mansions. I don’t believe he did it just for appearances.

I'm not; the first piece of evidence is that this is an observation mission rather than a defense mission.

If he was serious he would have sent the Texas Rangers. This kabuki dance is political, nothing more. He could have encouraged the elected sheriffs to form posses and promised to back them up, but he didn't.
