I too got on with my life and never took a Federal Dollar for it.
But I've been in group sessions with guys who have been incapacitated by it. Complete basket cases.
Not everyone is as strong as you are.
Have some compassion for the weak.
With you oh8. Plenty of vets try and game the system. I’ve been in 19 years and have seen it first hand after my 15 months in Iraq.
I think some people are weak, some are strong. My grandfather was awarded the DFC for his service as a Liberator pilot in the Pacific. He was shot down and saw half his crew killed. Made it through the war and started an engineering firm. His company designed assembly line equipment that is still used today.
Unfortunately, he died of a heart attack while shoveling snow at age 44. My mom was 13 at the time, the oldest of 6 kids. Life can suck sometimes, but you’re tight, you have to suck it up and not become a victim.
