......hasn’t been any coherent explanation by the cops....

This is quite disturbing. However, the local media has utterly failed to get the story, perhaps because conditions on the ground are too violent.

The cops in this PD probably realize that the CoP in the Zimmerman affair, although he acted very properly, and very quickly, was nonetheless ignominiously sacked anyway. With this possible rationale, the local cops are figuring that it will be better for them to wait for the formal investigation before committing themselves.

As the tribal war dances and the arrival of the usual suspects begins, The cops must realize that there is no way out for them, regardless of what happened or didn't happen. The shakeup in command starts now, with an Affirmative Action nincompoop or two already in the wings. Next chief: black, or increasingly nowadays, some politically correct female ex-dispatcher.

apparent shooting at a distance ...

?? No good news coming out of this case.

Disgusting. Of all the people involved in the M/Z case, the most fair and accurate was the CoP and he was the one who got smeared and fired.
