Rest in peace, and thank you, Robin Williams

Life is but a minute.

When I heard the news late yesterday afternoon about the death of actor and humorist Robin Williams, I was as surprised as most people. My first thought was that the world has lost another great and inspiring personality, and I prayed that his family would be comforted during this time of grief and acceptance.

I was also surprised when the report went on to say it was an "apparent suicide".

The news of any suicide surprises me, because I always wonder what pushed someone over the edge to take their own life.

It was reported that he battled with depression many times during his life. Only he and God would know when the last time would be the last. Not surprisingly, his wife issued an encouraging statement to the public:

“This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken,” said Williams's wife, Susan Schneider. “On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”

The news of any loss, be it family, friend or well-known person, always causes me to reflect on a poem I have used many times to remind people just how precious and short life can be, and that none of us know when our time will come or how.

"Life is just a minute, only sixty seconds in it. Forced upon me, can't refuse it. Didn't seek it, didn't choose it. But it's up to me to use it. I must suffer if I lose it, give an account if I abuse it. Just a tiny little minute, but eternity is in it." - Anonymous

These words are also a reminder that ... “This is the day which the LORD has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.” - Psalms 118:24

Thank you Robin for those countless moments of joy and laughter!

Thanks for posting this, and prayers up for the family and close friends—and Robin, too.

I once thought he was an ok actor till he started promoting the male homosexual lifestyle. This marketing of deviance has a profound negative impact on too many kids and the public’s health to make me feel sad for his passing. My cousin, a far better and decent Christian man, died 3 weeks ago. I miss him far more.

A lot of younger troops from this latest generation will remember him fondly from the shows he put on for them while deployed overseas.

His politics were manic, like his high speed brain. Some wires definitely crossed. But he supported and entertained the troops and that is all I need to know about him. “I ain’t no physicist, but I knows what matters ...”

A hateful comedian, Jason Alexander (who I would not be so kind to if it was his demise), said it well:

“Ah Robin, I’m so sorry the earth couldn’t stay worthy of you. Hope happiness awaits you”

If you watch “Mrs. Doubtfire” you will see his character’s brother and partner who are obviously gay, and are referred to by one of the kids as “aunt and uncle.”

That being said, I pray for his family. I can somewhat understand the torment that depression put him through. I have had such upheavals in my life and considered ending it all. My faith in God and my friends and coworkers were what got me through.

He made me laugh so much. I’ll have to go home and watch “RV” tonight.

I shared this on my Facebook wall last night

Just a somber thought for a moment, regarding Robin Williams.

I met him, well bumped into him, in Aspen, CO, March 1988. He was on a tear...understatement.. in the Oyster Bar in the Aspen Grand Manor. He was in his Popeye shirt and had his black horned rimmed glasses on and some real serious "White Walls".

If you grew up in the 80's, well , you know what I'm talking about!.

I was just told politely to "Exit" , as I, was also on a tear, and he was walking in. As we passed, I said, "I Know You" and he said " I know You, I know your brother , I know your friend...AR...AR..AR..AR...Nanu..Nanu!

He then got up on the bar, walking on his hands, and did his Sthick, walking up and down the bar, flirting with the girls, and drinking their drinks through their sippy straws. Very funny Man.

Robin, thank you for your humor. I will miss you! RIP!

What a great Memory!

I’m not saying he promoted anything but have you ever seen the movie “The bird cage”?

See you made a statement that was a complete lie and when called out on it, you make up some stupid excuse about a movie that he was in. Seriously low!

So lame. As if the Mrs Doubtfire can control his brother......you are reaching I will say that.
