My mom worked at a restaurant in SF that Williams frequented. She said he was always unbelievably nice and polite. I saw him in the audience way back when, at an SF comedy club. He seemed quite humble and nice.

I have so many family members in the hospitality industry in prime celebrity areas (SF and LA). We all hear the stories (years later, when they are no longer bound by confidentiality/not working there anymore) about mean celebs, condescending ones, those who don’t leave a single tip, and so on.

With Robin Williams, it was all just positive. And, from the various blogs/forums I’ve scanned, it looks like everyone else had the same experience — only niceness from this man.
