I wouldn't let this put you off. If you're on a Eurostar train, they pass through Calais at speed. If you're loading a car on to the tunnel shuttles, the loading area is completely separate from the truck loading area, and it's the trucks that these people are targetting, not cars. I've passed through the tunnel numerous times without ever seeing a hint of the migrants or their camps.
Picture some foaming zealot mooselimb setting himself off in the middle of the tube and sea water squirting out of both ends. I'm glad you changed your mind.
