If that is true, maybe that was supposed to have been their Reichstag moment.
It would be curious to know who would have been on the Aeroflot flight, if people had suddenly dropped their tickets and skipped the flight, and if Putin approved this himself.

Well, maybe he would have failed to notify the pilots too, and maybe they would been flying an empty aircraft. But then again, would any pilot be stupid enough to take off with an empty aircraft?
I don’t think Putin is the kind of person to care about random people if he is sure no one will know. He is likely to use the logic like ~3000 people die in traffic accidents in Russia every month so one plane full of them is just a fluctuation worth of rainy or sunny month in traffic deaths.
