What kind of parent leaves their kids behind and then turns them over to who knows who to make a horrendous journey - without the parents? The whole thing is unthinkable. And then how do we know who is grabbing the actual children (as opposed to the not so childish gang members) when they arrive here?

I agree. And yet, an American woman may go to jail for letting her 7 yo son(with a cell phone) walk to a park 6 blocks from his house. Would I do that - no. Was that IMHO a smart thing to do - no. However, I don’t know how safe her neighborhood is, how many times she had walked with him, counseled him, etc. I remember going across the street and down about a 1/2 block or so when I was 9 to play on playground equipment at a school. Of course, I think things were much safer for everyone then.
