And do we know if Hitler still thinks he is in Calais for the "real" invasion? If not, do we know when he let go of the ruse and why?

That, I don't know. You might try looking in the threads from late June to see what happened.

I don't know if the Germans know the full extent of the deception, but a few days ago they began moving units out of the Calais region toward Normandy. They will be too late.

One of situation maps henkster posts showed the movement a few days ago.

I could see that. Those big arrows pointing east have Patton’s name written all over them.

Well, except that Patton is meandering about Brittany right now. He won’t charge off east for a few days.

The maps are sometimes hard to follow on screen. Sometimes when something spurs my curiosity I print the map on a color printer here and those are much easier to read.

Ah, this is probably around the time he declared God would not allow him to miss the war he was destined to be in.

Yanks Smash On for Le Mans Secret Armored Troop Carriers Aid in Smash Following History's Mightiest Air Blasting; 154 Enemy Tanks Bagged in U. S. Offensive SUPREME HEADQUARTERS, ALLIED EXPEDITIONARY: FORCE. Aug. 8 (U.P.)— Two Canadian and British i armies, striking behind a tremendous rolling barrage of aerial bombs and artillery fire, crashed deep into the German battle lines below Caen in a full-scale drive on Paris today while American flying columns from Brittany converged on Le Mans, little more than 100 miles from the French capital. At both ends of the twisting 100-mile front Allied armored forces were tearing to shreds the long-prepared German defenses barring the western and south western roads to Paris.

I'm not sure when that was. I have a feeling it was earlier, but the movie doesn't always match up with the real sequence of events.
