There is a difference between "willing" and "able." Joe did as well as he could with the resources he had.
He is not a perfect candidate - those are very rare. I had my doubts about him from the first time I heard him - which, btw was in November. He was persuaded to abandon his plan to run for Congress to take on Lamar.
He did a fine job on the stump, never had a Todd Aiken grade blunder and stayed on his anti-amnesty message. He forced Lamar! to a bald faced lie - to defend his vote with the Dems as anti-amnesty.
My question is who would you have run against him? My hope was Marsha Blackburn, but she got on the Lamar train early.
