Why microwaves?
I don’t know. But it almost certainly has something to do with the frequency and wavelength of microwave photons. Every form of electro-magnetic radiation (gamma waves, ultra-violet, visible light, infarred, radio waves, microwave, etc) the photons associated with it have a very specific and unique frequency and wavelength.
