Charge: Obama plan to legalize millions of immigrants 'disastrous' to blacks

President Obama’s much-rumored executive order granting legal status to potentially millions of illegal immigrants will be “disastrous” to African-American job seekers and a slap in the face to others proceeding through the tedious legal immigration process, charges a member of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.

Peter Kirsanow, a black commissioner on the eight-member panel, warned in a letter (below) to Obama this week that giving legal status to undocumented workers will pave the way for them to take the few jobs that blacks, especially African-American men, need.

“I write to remind you of the disastrous effect of illegal immigration on the employment of all Americans, but particularly black Americans,” he wrote to Obama.

“Any grant of legal status will serve as a magnet to prospective illegal immigrants and further depress employment opportunities and wages for African Americans. Given that the labor force participation rate is at an historic low, the unemployment rate is 6.2 percent, and there has been a precipitous decline in household wealth, the timing for such a grant of legal status could not be worse,” he wrote in the letter, provided to Secrets.

Obama hasn’t formally decided what to do on immigration reform, but is planning some form of executive action after he returns from his extended vacation on Martha’s Vineyard Island in Massachusetts.

There have been several reports that he will grant legal status or some form of amnesty to millions of illegals including the tens of thousands of youths streaming over the U.S.-Mexico border.

Kirsanow, a Republican on the commission, cited past testimony about the impact opening the borders to new immigrants has on jobs for blacks.

“Illegal immigration has a disparate impact on African American men because these men are disproportionately represented in the low-skilled labor force,” wrote Kirsanow. He added, “Granting legal status to millions of people who are in the United States illegally will continue to depress the wages and employment opportunities of African American men and teenagers. It also will depress the wages and employment opportunities of African Americans going forward.”

And, he wrote, any sweeping executive order would be unfair to immigrants moving through the proper process to become Americans.

“The proposed executive order is unfair to people who are attempting to immigrate legally,” he said. “Most of the illegal immigrants who would benefit from your executive order have no skills, so they lose nothing by coming here illegally. Yet your proposed executive order is unlikely to make the visa process less cumbersome for legal immigrants or alleviate visa backlogs,” he added.

To explain this current economic policy of the US...supported by both Republicans and Democrats....it’s kind of simple. You allow fifteen million illegals into the US....wave the magic wand and they turn into legal residents who can now work for minimum wage (they were all making $5 an hour roughly before...under the table and part of the overall structure in our towns, cities, and farming areas).

The fifteen million new legal residents...now turn and easily accept the minimum wage jobs at BK, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, and various grocery operations across the US. They are happy to have such jobs and display a more positive attitude about it. The blacks who occupy the minimum wage jobs? Pushed out...they retreat further into crime districts. To make them happy...Democrats turn to various redistribution schemes to shift money to the unemployed or the “death-valley-neighborhoods”.

Because of a lack of understanding politics or economics....these new unhappy and unemployed blacks blame Republicans....who can only cite normal economic and immigration agendas as the way to fix the whole mess, but no one believes it.

It’s a circle....and it’ll repeat itself every twenty years until blacks stand up and level the Democratic Party entirely.

I don't think pointing out that Amnesty is going to make it harder for Blacks to get jobs is going to be a message that resonates strongly within the Black Community.

The message that Amnesty is going divert welfare funding from from the Black community to the Illegals crossing the border and result in a drop in benefit payments and longer waiting lines for free housing and health care will sadly resonate a lot stronger with the Black community.

Actually Amnesty is going to be a devastating double whammy to the Black community.

On one hand Amnesty will make it all but impossible for many Blacks to get a job due to fierce job competition from newly amnestied illegals and the massive overnight increase in the number of workers in the market place willing to work for the lowest possible wages will depress wages for the few Blacks who can find a job.

On the other hand , this whole Amnesty ploy is a scam to create a new dependency class of welfare addicted illegals totally beholden to the Democrat Party.

There is only a finite amount of welfare funds available and we are really overdrawn and stretched thin already on welfare funding due to the Obama Administrations lack of ability to get the economy moving.

The money to pay welfare payments to these new welfare recipients will have to come from somewhere and that somewhere is going to have to be, at least in part, out of the pockets of existing welfare recipients in one way or another.

Blacks disproportionately depend upon government welfare and other entitlement programs so they will unavoidably be hit the hardest by these cuts in welfare funding and increased competition and wait times for access to government services and programs.

Talk about being squeezed between a rock and hard place.

Existing welfare recipients will face huge cuts in benefits and those that are willing and able to work to make up the difference will find it increasingly harder to find job at all and any job they do find will pay very low wages artificially depressed by the massive glut of amnestied illegal aliens dumped overnight into the labor pool.

The “working poor” are also going to see their wages cut and many will lose their jobs when they are displaced by the flood of illegals desperate for work.

This plan by Obama and the Democrats is just plain evil .

No one is more aware of the fact that they have created a welfare dependency class that simply cannot function in the normal working environment than Obama and the Democrats.

Now they are going to sacrifice these existing helpless members of the Democrat dependency class for the political gain from creating a new, competing dependency class.

This will not end well, especially since our welfare system is already essentially bankrupt and only functioning a a result of massive, unsustainable borrowing of money to hide the deficits and provide recipients with false sense of security and normalcy.

Obama’s stash is empty and his credit card is just about overdrawn.

And who will be blamed for it all? The GOP, of course.

Of course the GOP is going to be made the fall guy that the Democrats stick the blame on.

The Obama Administration is street fighting and playing dirty in a way not seen in American politics in any of our life times and the Republicans are totally unprepared and unable to fight the kind of fight the Obama Administration is picking with the American people.

Worse yet, the American people are totally unprepared and unable to fight the kind of fight the Obama Administration is picking with them.
