Last week, conservative Sen. Ted Cruz endorsed Doug Ducey in Arizonas GOP gubernatorial primary:
" The crisis at Americas border is a defining issue in the coming election, especially in Arizona. Im supporting Doug Ducey for Arizona governor because he is the best candidate to help secure the border, protect the people, and enforce the law. He has the most serious and credible plan to address the border crisis."

The endorsement was considered a major coup for Ducey, who is distrusted by some Arizona conservatives.

In the wake of Cruzs endorsement, tweets posted early last year by Duceys political director, Anson Clarkson, are receiving renewed attention. This one, now deleted, calls anti-amnesty members of the Arizona Right closet racists:
According to Sonoran News, Clarkson made his name working for liberal Arizona Republicans:
(SNIP) The same Anson Clarkson whose career defining moment was working with Arizonas leading liberal and race-baiter Randy Parraz to take down Republican Senate President Russell Pearce and replace him with the liberal Republican Jerry Lewis.(SNIP)

Doug Ducey is a friend of mine. Like every politician during election cycle, he appears alongside other politicians. He and McCain were in the same room.. That’s all. I know this because Doug Ducey told me this himself. Sarah Palin endorsed Ducey today. he is the real deal and he is going to win.
When did these events happen? I was under the impression Ducey helped McCain and Flake hold those invite-only amnesty town halls.
hey Clarkson, what’s a ‘messican’ ?
That is 100% false
What’s your explanation for his having Clarkson as his political director?
Rubio went to Washington and hired an Amnesty advocate as his Chief of Staff.
A year later, Rubio was trying to stuff the Gang of Eight Amnesty legislation down our Conservative throats.
Sorry - on the immigration issue, legal or illegal, I consider every GOP candidate a shameless liar, unless they have definitively proved otherwise over a long period of time.
I hear ya.
Rubio was supported by Jeb Bush and Ducey is supported by McCain’s donors.
I think your timeline is a bit off. I think it was 18 months in; in 2012 Rubio wanted to do his Dreamer Lite bill. Even House leadership said no. Rubio said he would illegally immigrate to feed his family like all these obese women crossing the border now.

Marco Rubio says he would come to the U.S. illegally if he had to
ABC News ^ | June 19, 2012 | Chris Moody
“Many people who come here illegally are doing exactly what we would do if we lived in a country where we couldn’t feed our families,” Rubio writes in his book, which went on sale Tuesday. “If my kids went to sleep hungry every night and my country didn’t give me an opportunity to feed them, there isn’t a law, no matter how restrictive, that would prevent me from coming here.”
I too want to know this, Hildy, especially before I make an endorsement to the 96,000 Arizonans who like my immigration Facebook page.
Ive noticed there is a couple of different conservative Arizona blogs.
There is The RINO Report, Seeingredaz and Sonoran Alliance.
There is the blonde woman named Rachel Alexander who writes pro-Thomas stories and anti-Horne stories.
Im sure there is crossover where some people support Thomas/Horne but dont support Horne/Thomas.
You can’t expect Ted Cruz to be able to vet everyone who ever worked for the candidates he endorses.
You think someone might let him know who McCain/Kyl/Flake/Cornyn/Hutchison/Perry/Dewhurst likes in certain races.
Good question.
And, where would Ducey’s objection to Clarkson’s racist accusation be found? If there is no record of an objection, there is no surprise AZ conservatives are feeling worked over by Ducey.
Twitchy.com is Michelle Malkin’s website. She endorsed Andrew Thomas this week. I have met Anson, we have never spoken policy, but he’s not running for governor. Ducey, meanwhile, has been consistent on border issues throughout his time in public service. When you are endorsed by Ted Cruz, Sheriff Joe & Sarah Palin who is anyone to question your stance on this issue?
Also, he is NOT the campaign manager. A political director works with the grassroots, volunteers, and the political side of campaigns—not policy. Furthermore, these tweets were posted way before Doug announced his candidacy.
I know personally. that when you are running for office things come out of people’s pasts and you can’t do anything about it. If you are involved in campaigning, chances are you’ve said things that may be counter to your client this time. That’s politics. Anson, who I know, is not a policy guy.
I wish you could all meet Ducey. He would sit and talk to all of you. He is a probably one of the most down to earth people I have met, and I knew him way before he announced for Governor. I have worked with him as AZ treasurer and he has always been true to his word and helped in any way he could. That is not something you see everyday at that level of government.
As I recently relocated to AZ in 2012, I would be interested in your suggested Primary picks. As I know you are semi-public as a poster, freepmail would be great
I will be happy to give you my primary picks. I am an elected Supervisor in Mohave County and have been involved in the AZ Republican Party for the last five years. I know every single one of that State candidates and have very definite opinions. I will freepmail you.
I was thinking Rubio got elected in 2012.
Nope - 2010.
Have you seen Ducey dodge the question on SB1070 by talking about drug cartels. That is a cop out that says illegals can take any jobs they want.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/3175384/posts
Asked whether they would have signed SB1070 in 2010:
Christine Jones There are millions upon millions of people living in the shadows in this country
Frank Riggs I support the employer sanctions law and the detention of individuals under the show me your papers law
Scott Smith: Whether you like it or not this is a federal issue. The best way to secure the border is by expanding legal trade
Andrew Thomas We need to put the National Guard on the border, we need to build a fence, and we need to deal with liberal judges who are tossing our immigration laws
Ken Bennett For those that are here illegally, we need a mechanism for them to get square with the law, pay the fines and penalties that is not amnesty we are a nation of immigrants
Doug Ducey We want to focus on the drug cartels and the human trafficking and I think that that in many ways is mutually exclusive of the good things that happen on the border
