The man who shot the cellphone video showing a police officer using an apparent chokehold on a Staten Island man who later died, was arrested Saturday night on charges that he was carrying a stolen loaded handgun, a law-enforcement official said.
Ramsey Orta, 22 years old, was charged by the New York Police Department with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon with a previous conviction, police said.

Let’s hope he doesn’t croak from a mysterious chokehold in jail. Some people can be very vindictive.
Yes, we are now officially a full-on Police State. No more entries please, we have a winner!
You read Daily Kos? Hmmm Bet you like occupydemocrats.com also.
I expect the day comes when there is a shootout at the farmstead here and as they pry the gun from my cold, dead hands, the media will be reporting on all the anti-government "terroristic" posts I have made over the years here.
Never heard of that one, probably fit in nicely with some of what I read at FR though. This thread is a perfect example.
“I suspect this guy may not be available to testify because hell have an unfortunate accident. Choking on a bar of soap, beaten to death in solitary, something”
He does not need to testfy. The video tells the story better than an eye witness account.
Awww, that’s too bad. FR may not be the place for you then.
Oh yeah, I was going around with them for awhile on the original ‘choke hold’ thread.
Wait til they find out NYPD used their secret ‘Precogs’ ‘Minority Report’ psychics to plant a weapon on the guy the first time he got arrested. Officers J and K were responsible for that little caper.
Frankly Scarlet.
1. The left hates cigarettes, but taxes them heavily. Garner was allegedly selling UNTAXED cigarettes. The left should be angry at him.
2. Garner resisted arrest, and died with the ME determining that the cause of death was homicide.
3. People are outraged by his death. Some FReepers are labeling it murder, and even cold blooded murder. There has yet to be a LEGAL determination by the District Attorney's office.
4. The left HATES guns and wants them confiscated, with some wanting to kill people who possess guns. The man who took the video was arrested in June of this year for gun possession after allegedly threatening go kill someone. Plus, he has now been charged with possession of a gun. Where's the hate and outrage from the left?
Let me get this straight. Ramsey Orta, age 22 has an arrest history for the last 5 years. In May he ‘allegedly’ pulled a robbery with a box cutter and in 2013 he got arrested with a gun after threatening to kill somebody. (all planted evidence undoubtedly)
Incidents of that caliber usually earn someone the “one of Obama’s sons” moniker but since he made a video of the Jackbooted NYPD murdering somebody all is forgiven and he’s suddenly an FR hero.
Now I get it.
They seem to have all gravitated to FR.
I won’t criticize him or others who use their cameras to document what they see in public, that is their right. But obviously, I won’t conveniently ignore their past acts of criminality and talk of them in “heroic” terms. I do not stand with Orta.
LOL!
Forty years ago, a leftist magazine urged people who were going to anti-war demonstrations to sew their pockets shut so nothing could be slipped into them if they were arrested.
Same here, I do not criticize him for his video at all, more power to him. I’ve been video’d myself, no big deal.
What confounds me is what I believed to be reasonably intelligent people on this website falling for media bias and lies. I guess when the media bias and lies suit their purpose it’s acceptable. Or maybe some folks are just that gullible.
Bill Jordan told of an incident on the southern border in which a smuggler was shot. The story was the smuggler crossing a foot bridge, pulled a .22, fired at the border patrolman. The smuggler was shot and his pistol fell into the river with two shots fired.
Their was a trial of the border patrolman from overzealous supervisors.
Bill went down to the bridge, and at the exact spot where the smuggler was shot, he leaned over to look in the river, and a cheap .22 with two shots fired that Bill had in his shirt pocket accidentally fell into the river.
Later, the supervisors went to the exact spot with a magnet to see if they could retrieve the smuggler’s gun.
To their surprise, they pulled out four or five .22 pistols all with two shots fired.
