Symbolism? The fact that we don’t even know the name of a bill that would prevent such downsizing. Nothing.
What I mean is that without some significant leadership on the GOP side, no one knows what they’ve done... it’s just peeing into the wind.
You’re upset we haven’t heard about some of these things. I’ll agree that’s a problem. But, without a big groundswell of public outrage, any GOP initiatives are going to be ignored.
Take the border situation, for example. Obama asked for a 3.7 billion dollar slush fund, with virtually no enforcement. The House is working on a 700 million bill which inlcudes enforcement, but is wishy-washy in some places. Obama loves this—even if the House passes something, it will be ignored by the Senate, which I hear is going into recess. He’ll say “Congress didn’t act, so I have to.” Or, the House bill will wind up in a conference with the Senate, and McCain et al will tack on a lot of amnesty provisions.
Is it any wonder I’m bummed?
