I got to have dinner with him and Billy Dee Williams (”Lando Calrissian”) when I worked for the Haig campaign many moons ago. Both very nice guys.
He was invited to have a show in Tucson, but the Jews in this town are anti-conservative, so for lack of ticket tales, I think they cancelled the show. Too bad. My husband and I saw him in the 70’s in LA, and we can still quote from him.
One thing... I can’t believe he’s still alive! He’s always looked like death warmed over (lol). I love this accent and intonation, too, it’s the voice I hear in my head when I’m thinking in Yiddish.
