The U.S. House of Representatives will delay the start of a five-week recess in order to try to pass a funding bill dealing with an immigration crisis on the southwestern border, Republican lawmakers said on Thursday.
The decision comes shortly after House Republicans revolted against their own party's $659 million spending bill, causing House Speaker John Boehner to cancel Thursday's scheduled vote on the measure.
Republican lawmakers emerged from a closed-door meeting telling reporters of the decision and the goal of passing a bill on Friday. It was not yet clear if that bill would be identical to the one that was withdrawn or changed to lure more support.
We'll stay until we vote, House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said after the meeting.
Still, Representative Kerry Bentivolio, a Michigan Republican, said regarding the leaders plan, I dont really think it secures the border.
Im not really interested in supporting it because I dont think it does anything, Bentivolio said.

Boehner pulls a Harry The Reid
House Republicans are considering passing a bill this week that would give President Obama more money, but would do absolutely nothing to block his plan to extend amnesty to another 5 or 6 million illegal aliens with another wholly illegal executive order.
Due to the president's irresponsible policies, our border is being overrun by illegal aliens who have no legal right to live or work in this country. In state after state and community after community, they are overwhelming relief services, welfare budgets, and law enforcement resources, and taking jobs that rightfully belong to American citizens. This tide of illegal immigration threatens our health, our public safety, and our national security. Its time for this dangerous pattern to stop.
Keep phoning and emailing.
keep voting until they win
if a conservative bill loses, that is the end of it
That terrible conservative wing (CRUZ!) keeping them from their recess.
I’m sure recess was originally planned as a way for representatives to get to their home regions and either work for a living and or get in touch with their base, both moot, as they sap the taxpayers to support their gig, and they don’t get in touch with their base- they don’t represent their base.
They can just stay and earn their pensions, non obamacare health plans, out of order perks.
And they can vote to send all the ‘children’ back home to their parents (yikes- what kind of parent would do this?).
This is a very dangerous situation now in the House of Representatives, the only part of our government now holding back unhindered illegal immigration.
If Boehner gets this bill passed it goes to the Senate
At the Senate it will be rewritten
A conference committee will be appointed by (you guessed it) BOEHNER.
They will do something acceptable to both Democrats and Rinos.
Boehner will then be able to put this before the House for a straight up vote. The democrats and only 16 rinos will be required to pass it.
Why don’t they vote on actually building the border fence that we were promised?
The fence has already been voted on and approved.
They just won’t fund it.
Goodbye America!
You gotta pass the bill to see what’s in it.
Kill the bill!
Boehner needs to meet up with some of Obama’s MS-13 invaders to change his mind.
“House Republicans are considering passing a bill this week that would give President Obama more money,...”
I had McCarthy’s rep just tell me that it includes money to
expedite court cases.
Wow - powerful, isn’t it!
I told her why are we wasting money on these people that shouldn’t even be here when Social Security and Medicare are going broke! If this bill doesn’t ship them back, it supports amnesty.
If this passes, I am changing my registration. I should’ve done it long ago, but have been waiting to make a point.
Yep - but the uniparty will not build it.
It seems they voted in the fence just to get re-elected.
What odds would you give that Boehner will try to force it through with mostly Democrat votes?
‘Keep phoning and emailing.’
My Rep is Jack Kingston. He just lost his primary to David Perdue, so he can’t be threatened with being voted out, etc. It wouldn’t have mattered if he had won; he was loyal to Boehner first and the Chamber of Commerce second. (That’s why he lost his primary.)
So who do I call?
I misstated that. Kingston resigned the House to run for Senate. He lost his Senate bid. He’s still my Rep at the moment, though, and he still wants Comprehensive Immigration Reform with every fiber of his being. He is GOPe to the bone, and is a prime example of everything that’s wrong with DC/the Permanent Political Class.
