It would take 60 days to burn out completely if you shut Africa down right now. If you shut down US and EU, it would take about 45 days, depending on the number of undisclosed new cases in the US.

CDC made an announcement today about El Paso, which was stupid on their part.

Were I a governor, I’d be spinning up my emergency response people and reviewing what would need to be done to shut their own borders.

I KNOW I’d be calling up some reserve state police types and posting them in every hospital. I’d be calling up my national guard reservists up to do their monthlies by patrolling clinics.

I’d put every registered health care professional in the state on notice to report symptoms.

I’d have DDT suppliers on standby in case you find out this is mosquito, lice, or flea borne.

I’d do this now, because now we know it’s here. It’s official. They’ve announced they’ve actually flown somebody in already.

You don’t monkey with something like an aerosolized version of Ebola virus.

I agree it was stupid. But was it stupid-stupid, or was it like Freudian-stupid, if you get my meaning?

I can just picture a Congolese macaque saying "I resent that remark"

But there may be hope:

Ebola Treatment Works In Monkeys, Even After Symptoms Appear
