It seems hard to believe that racist demonstrations, verging on riots in some places, could take place today in America with no intervention from the authorities, but that is exactly what happened in cities across country in the wake of Israels defensive actions against Islamist rocket attacks from Gaza.
In Boston anti-Semitic chants such as "Jews back to Birkenau" and "Drop dead, you Zionazi whores" were followed by assaults on Jews and pro-Israel demonstrators.
One of the assaulted students, Chloe Valdary, a University of New Orleans senior, pressed charges with the Boston Police Department against a woman for actions related to the incident.
There were several cops who literally did nothing, wrote Valdary on her Facebook page after the protest. She also posted videos and photos of the disturbing incident.
Brett Loewenstern and other witnesses said that protesters yelled slogans that included the Holocaust references cited above.
According to The Times of Israel, fifty anti-Israel demonstrations have taken place in the US alone since the start a week ago of Operation Protective Edge. A number of the protests have seen incidents of violence, including in Los Angeles and Boston.

1) A deeply-held suspicion that Evangelicals are only being friendly with the intent of converting Jews to (in their view) an alien religion and culture. That, and the secular Jews just plain don't understand Evangelical enthusiasm and think they're a bit nutty. It doesn't help that they perceive Evangelicals as only being fair-weather friends to Israel, since so many expect the Rapture to happen before they're actually forced to put their skins where their mouths are.
2) For the non-religious, a combination of suspicion about religion in politics and replacing religion with politics.
3) A long-standing committment to social justice--and being convinced that voting Dem is the best way to bring that about.
4) As one rabbi in Jerusalem explained to me, Jews have a long history and a long memory . . . but all too often that means fighting the last war long after the enemy has changed.
5) Peer pressure from friends and family. If everyone around you thinks that conservatives are all Richard Nixon, you tend to believe it.
6) Concentration in the urban areas and academia which are largely leftist.
There are a lot of other factors, but those six are the big ones as I understand it.
Somewhere in the Ninth Level of Hell, the soul of Adoph Hitler, pauses at his labors and smiles. This is a day I never thought I would see — what is next? Lynching of Jews? New camps in the USA? Maybe have them wear yellow Stars? Next they will cut aid to Israel? hang them out to dry and give them to the Caliph to convert to Islam? World turned upsidedown.
Having entire nations, nay, entire worldwide religons based around the destruction of your culture tends to foment a well-developed and utterly appropriate sense of paranoia. :-)
FWIW, and IMHO ... the Arabs better watch what they're doing. Isreal will tolerate their provcations for just so long, then go *SWAT*. And there won't be a problem with much of the Arab world, any more.
Ouch.
Deadly terror attacks on US soil are nothing to joke about.
When our government decides to take it seriously I will consider taking it seriously. Until then terrorists are running around in the street shouting threats.
