US says photos show Russian artillery fired on Ukraine
Yahoo News ^ | July 27, 2014 | AFP

The United States on Sunday released satellite images to bolster its claim that Russian artillery has fired across the border into Ukraine, targeting government forces in support of separatist rebels.

The four images, prepared by the office of the Director of National Intelligence and forwarded to reporters by the State Department, show sections of the Russia-Ukraine frontier.

Two show what the US government alleges are Russian batteries on its own territory -- one group of multiple rocket launchers and another of self-propelled howitzers.

Pictures also show impact craters near military positions on the Ukrainian side of the frontier.

A third picture shows what Washington alleges is Russian-supplied heavy weaponry being fired by separatists from within Ukraine.

"The wide area of impacts near the Ukrainian military units indicates fire from multiple rocket launchers. The bottom impact crater inset shows impacts within a local village," the caption said.

Moscow denies directly intervening in the Ukraine conflict and has accused Washington of mounting a smear campaign against it.

Washington turned up the pressure Thursday, alleging Russia had fired across the border and planned to deliver "heavier and more powerful multiple rocket launchers" to its rebel allies.

Then, the State Department cited only "intelligence information" to back up its claim before releasing the photographs on Sunday to strengthen its case.

Ukraine also claims two of its fighter jets were downed by missiles fired from Russian territory, but its US ally has yet to confirm this.

Fears of the damage that Russian arms could do in the hands of Ukraine's separatists increased sharply after a civilian Malaysian airliner was shot down over rebel territory with the loss of 298 lives.

looks like Ukraine has it’s hands full. Maybe they should have stood-up when Russia waltzed in and took Crimea.

Who shot first?

On Sunday, shells hit the Russian town of Donetsk, which has the same name as the nearby Ukrainian city of Donetsk that is a center of opposition to the Kiev regime. The shells killed a 46-year-old father of four and wounded four, including two elderly women.

The shelling came after repeated attacks across the Russian border by Kiev regime forces. On Saturday, Ukrainian forces fired several shells at Russia’s neighboring Kuibyshev district and started a gunfight with Russian border guards there. On Sunday, Ukrainian warplanes violated Russian air space and overflew Donetsk, Russia shortly after the shelling had taken place, before launching missiles at targets inside Ukraine.

In other words the U.S. has this one random photo (LOL!) that's not even related to the case. Which is pathetic at best.

Their only other evidence is Social Media (Facebook, Youtube) that have been already been debunked.

What's funny is that no one wants to talk about Ukraine seizing and refusing to release the radar data to the public? If they were innocent, then why would they be hiding this? Who stands to gain from this and who stands to lose????

Common guys don't be so freaking gullible. This is coming from the same group that said the boarder is secure. Oh and you can keep your plan if you like it.

Russia is just doubling down so that the international investigators can’t get to the shootdown site and find all that evidence that implicates it.

Why is Ukraine refusing to release their radar data?

Why was the Airline flying over a war zone when FAA Europe had told them not too?

Who gains from this and who loses?

We are broke and this is NOT our fight. It’s beyond stupid to even think about going to war against Russia.

In dealing with Russians, one photo is worth 100,000 Kremlin denials

How's the weather over there in Moscow???

Like the South Koreans in Vietnam. One SVN Army short 82mm round hits their base, a week later another two, the day after that pair two dozen "stray" 82mm rounds fired by South Koreans hit the base the short rounds were fired from.

So sorry, please excuse, all mistake.

Or all an old wives tale.

Who knows what yarns lurk in the hearts of propagandists?

But the ROK troops never had a problem with SVN Army units firing short rounds into them after the story got around.

We keep slouching towards preventing war, if you want war, then allow the Russians to regain under Obama and lefties, what Reagan destroyed.

Russia has some they say slow Ukrainian BUK missiles in the area.

They don't have them yet.

They are still forging them right now and should have them ready shortly.

Please post them when they're ready -- we all love a good laugh.

See Question #4. Why did Kiev deploy BUK missile systems on the edge of militia-controlled zones directly before the tragedy?

I think the biggest problem you guys face, Uncle Chip, is ... Obama is on your side.

Remember when Zero, McCain and other simpletons were urging that we jump in with both feet on the side of the Syrian “freedom-fighters”—formerly al Qaeda Iraq, now ISIS? We actually armed them as well.

These people are now exterminating Christians in Iraq and sticking their heads on spikes.

You can glut News and Activism with these articles all you want, but most of us here are concerned about America’s own problems. And one of the biggest is your ally, Obama.
