We deserve to be free because we defeated the work’s largest and most powerful empire (twice) and relocated or exterminated tribes of savages who objected to our rights over our territory.
Nobody “deserves” to be free as an abstraction.
That's not what our forefather's said --
Everyone deserves to be free, or at least that’s what the founders believed. Conservatives believe our rights come from God, not the state. You can argue that achieving that freedom is the duty of people and not the USA and still be consistent with historic American values, but you cannot say they don’t deserve it and be consistent.
No. Inalienable rights aren't an abstraction.
Nobody deserves to be a slave.
We deserve to be free because we defeated...
Nobody deserves to be liberated by a third party, but that doesn't mean that people deserve to be a slave.
BTW, haven't you noticed that Ukraine without help from anybody has been fighting this battle on their own.
Each human person is created in the image of God--no abstractions. It's what grants human dignity and deserves respect. It isn't deserved on account what is done--although there are such deserts--but deserved for what each one is.
