To a degree, he’s already doing that. Instances of inappropriate giggling are increasing. Also, despite the bad optics & the world going up in flames, he’s doing record amounts of golf. Even if he doesn’t care, seeing that he’s ineligible in ‘16, he would do a better job of protecting the brand...IF he were of sound & steady mind. But as the British papers have observed, he’s totally checked out, & evinces no real interest in being POTUS. He’s just going through a bare minimum number of motions in order to have another joy ride on AF1, another chic vacation, another hundred or so games of golf.
In a sane world, the press would point out that his behavior is abnormal. Sadly, the world hasn’t been sane for a while now.
