During the course of this Gaza operation Israel has found significant Hamas files in the tunnels and interrogated more than 100 Hamas terrorists.
Israel uncovered the most massive terror plot against it in its history. Hamas has used its US-funded tunnels to dig all the way to several kibbutzim and other communities in southern Israel. On Rosh Hashana, one of the holiest days on the Jewish calendar and less than 3 months away, Hamas was going to stage multiple terror attacks on thise communities, massacring as many people as they could.
Israel is united against Hamas. Netanyahu as about 85% approval in Israel for removing Hamas as a threat to Israel. There is growing consensus in Israel for occupying Gaza and obliterating Hamas entirely.
While governments of Israel, including those led by Netanyahu, have acceded to unreasonable US demands, those are seen as tactical retreats. Thank G-d this government unanimously is willing to face the pressure of an enraged Obama/Kerry administration rather than jeopardize its own survival as a country.
I hope that Israel’s friends here and elsewhere give Israel’s government their full-throated support as the IDF continues to press on and “do the work that Americans won’t do”.
