Actually, I didn’t until I moved to Berlin and a German friend explained to me the story behind Aldi and Lidl.
I found it pretty funny; a family feud!
The same sort of thing happened at Adidas (named after Adi Dassler)....he and brother Rudolf fell out and Rudolf formed Puma. Now both companies have huge market share in sportswear, footwear, golf, etc.
