This sets up a dilemma for Obama. Perry would be defending the border, while Obama will oppose him because the Federal Government has the responsibility to secure our borders, which it refuses to do. So, will the Federal Government tell its troops or officers to use deadly force to enforce its decision NOT to secure our borders? In essence will the personnel under his control be willing to commit an act of war against the United States by using deadly force against U.S. National Guardsmen?

“On Fox News Sunday, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) said that President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NA) are holding the illegal immigrant children flooding across the U.S. Mexico border “hostage” with promises of “amnesty........”

Were I Perry, I would not ask obama for anything, I would just do it and it would be under my control not obama. Period.

Should Perry activate some units of the Texas National Guard, it could setup an interesting situation between the Feds and Texas. I’ve just read the Posse Comitatus Act; not a lawyer, but if I understand this law correctly, if a governor activates his/her Guard for an emergency then it is exempted from the act. Meaning as I understand this law, the governor has the authority to set the rules of engagement, which I believe would include deadly force. However, it seems to me that the PCA prohibits the Feds from doing this. Sooo, seems to me that if troops are going to be utilized along the border then under state juristiction is the right way to do it, especially being that the drug cartels are now using 50 cal Barrett’s....

Well Pollyanna, Perry is doing this only because he is running for Prez. It allows him gain points with the rightwing extremists which he will need in the primary.

And it doesn't cost him anything since the taxpayers are paying for it.

The guard doesn't have the authority to deport. Or conduct immigration/deportation hearings. Or act as an administrative judge. The guard has no detention facilities to hold illegals nor do they have the residential holding facilities required to hold the young invaders.

But on the other hand, This will be a "feel good" effort and its almost like spitting in Obama's face.

But you may be disappointed when you hear the conditions that are imposed on these guardsmen.

And not doubt many of the guardsmen will be disappointed that they have to leave their family, job, career to be Perry's campaign tool.

I’m scared for the first time in my life. I come from the city and now I am in NEPA. The area is bad now even shopping or going to the bank is becoming a risk. Yesterday the Verizon store in Hazleton was robbed.

Governor Perry has sent Texas DPS and Texas National Guard to execute border security operations before now. They work cooperatively down there. BP will not be firing on NG.
