Reading this Politico item on Obama's botched handling of immigration policy, one would think Democrats are all for embracing scores of illegal immigrant children now in the U.S. for an indeterminate period of time.
Obama's foes on border crisis: Democrats
They sure didnt check with me, said Sen. Tom Harkin (D-Iowa), chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. I dont know who they checked with, but I just think it was kind of a quick reaction without really thinking about the humanitarian aspects of this.
"Our citizens already feel burdened by all kinds of challenges. They don't want to see another burden come into their state," said Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, a Democrat. "However we deal with the humanitarian aspects of this, we've got to do it in the most cost-effective way possible."

“In 2006, we saw Republicans lose both houses of Congress because they tried to pass amnesty. And in 2014, they are actually considering doing it again.”
Amnesty is done for this year, thanks to Cantor being taken down. Probably not much next year either...but, yea, slowly Republicans will come back to it - they simply CANNOT RESIST Karl Rove’s money forever.
