As Christians Are Massacred in Iraq, Laid-Back Obama Maintains His Shameful Silence
The Spectator (UK) ^ | Saturday, July 19, 2014 | Damian Thompson

Christians in Mosul have been offered three choices by ISIS:

1. Convert to Islam.

2. Pay the ‘jizya’ tax that renders them dhimmis – i.e., second-class citizens granted limited protection if they hand over half an ounce of pure gold.

3. Death by the sword.

They had until noon today to make up their minds.

Bit of a no-brainer, really. Mosul’s Christians – Catholics and Orthodox who until this month had celebrated Mass in the city every Sunday for 1,600 years – are fleeing for safety.

Perhaps, by the time you read this, Barack Obama – a weekly worshipper at a crazy Pentecostal church while he was running for office in Chicago – will have said something about this tragedy. He certainly hadn’t said anything at the time of writing (18.30 BST).

He needs to be asked, repeatedly. Somebody should go an solicit Bush’s opinion also, and Carter and John Kerry and Hillary and ALL OF THEM.

Obama armed and trained IS with US taxpayer money.

None of the EXEMPT in DC seems to care. Ever. EVER.

They are MORE concerned with putting
swine flu, tuberculosis, Ebola, cholera,
whooping cough, measles, scabies,
and chicken pox into American homes
to shut the populace up.

Yes, Obama fiddles while Western Civilization burns, but I can’t help wondering what President Bush is thinking about all this. I mean, if Sadam had stayed in power, perpetually pinned down by our over-flights but still powerful enough to crush the Muslim extremists (for all his faults he wasn’t one himself), perhaps Christians would have continued in peace. I just wonder what President Bush thinks about that.

Joke? Those do-gooders have helped to bring forth this massacre. The Christian winter has been going on for years.

Of course he’s silent.

Just following his holy book

Sura (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, even if they are of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."

Well, would you believe, the 11th hole and a cold Sam Adams?

Not a joke. I agree with what you say and I think they need to be confronted with it. Obama is one thing, anybody who ever thought that guy was worth a plugged nickle was a fool.

But what about the rest of them?

Jimmy Carter and Bush, esp. they are confessing Christians. Hillary too for that matter, oh yeah and Bill while we’re at it. The lip-biter in chief.

At least Obama eschews that bit of stage business.

Obama has stated openly that if anyone slanders the name of the prophet Mohammed, his sympathy would be with the Muslims. I must presume that the Christians are not praising the big Mo, so Obama has no sympathy for them.

Fyi, x. Obama’s silence in the face of ever escalating worldwide persecution of Christians in another form of malignancy. On his watch the abuse, torture, imprisonment, rape (particularly of children), murder & overall persecution of Christians has shot through the roof. Outwardly Obama ignores it. Inwardly he likes it, or he would most certainly at least *say* something about it. Of course, only actually DOING something about it would indicate real concern. You won’t get that from this Malignant Narcissist. He prefers to privately cheer the Christians’ tormentors on.

Obama’s mean streak is a mile wide and a mile deep. To see it, all you have to do is take off your moral equivalency glasses.

You are letting words trip you up here. Just as people can be "narcissistic" without being textbook "narcissists," and one could talk about someone's neediness being "pathological" without an actual and literal psychopathology being involved, so someone can be "malignant" or malign or malevolent (and a narcissist, too) without being a "malignant narcissist." The phrase has a specific meaning that goes beyond mere nastiness.

Politicians (and lawyers and high-flying executives) can be very nasty people. They are also involved in fields where "normal" behavior is quite rough and competitive, even devious. And behaviors that one applauds in one's own leaders are often seen as malicious, spiteful, even pathological. I'm hesitant about turning everything into a matter of psychopathology.

If it was wrong for the therapeutic profession to start "psychoanalyzing" Barry Goldwater from afar, do 50 years and a change of party make it right? Also, does slapping a label on a politician, say Nixon or Johnson, or Carter or Clinton, really tell you any more than we already know about them? Or does the label leave us knowing and saying less than we already do?

I think you're right about Obama's childhood wounds and neediness and right about his creating an alternate reality for himself. I have to wonder about some of your examples, though. Observers may see more pettiness and desire to humiliate in powerful people than is actually there. I'm pretty sure that Obama has enough ways to get back at people and make his power felt that he doesn't need to intentionally mispronounce the word "corpsman."

My main point in posting, though, was just to say that narcissism doesn't mean psychopathy or sociopathy. People see "narcissist" and think "Hitler" or somebody who's going to start dropping bombs on them. Narcissistic weakness or brittleness can have very bad effects. You don't want a narcissistic leader, and maybe you can't say that often enough. But the fact that narcissism in a leader doesn't mean Hitler is also something that bears repeating.

You’re right. Just because Obama is a walking, talking, textbook case of Malignant Narcissism doesn’t mean we should mention the obvious. We should pretend he’s no different than any other self-centered person. Otherwise, liberals might think we were racist.

Btw, is your definition of Malignant Narcissism “Hitler”? It sounds like that is the extent of your knowledge.

I.e.: Malignant Narcissism = Hitler

Hitler = Malignant Narcissism

One more thing. The one type of person who will never, ever be able to recognize & identify a sociopath is a person who lacks empathy. You say some of my examples are petty. That tells me you have no empathy for the objects of Obama’s mean streak. But MNs are very careful when it comes to picking targets. They only pick the type they can wound. If their sadistic verbal—and otherwise—jabs have no effect, they move on. They only settle in with people who can be hurt.

If you are not the type of person who can be hurt in a similar way, & you lack empathy, there is a 100 percent chance you will NEVER recognize or comprehend a Malignant Narcissist when you encounter one. & this is what I get from you. ‘Oh, Obama said something hurtful to Michelle in public? Big deal. Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill’.

You wouldn’t, I gather, have noticed that he did it again. He managed to find a way in public to needle Michelle about French Fries. & the needling obviously hurts, because she cut him off mid-sentence to say she is going cold turkey on fries. She was obviously humiliated. Obama has found her vulnerable spot & he just keeps rubbing salt in that wound. But to you that is just pettiness, right? Needling & hurting one’s wife repeatedly in public, in front of a national audience, no big deal.

Empathy. You either have it or you don’t.

Actually, if they mean Jeremiah Wright's church, it was, iirc, a United Church of Christ, one of the old mainline denominations, descended, I believe from one of the Reformed movements. (It's possible it was Christian Church Disciples, but again, a mainline denomination.)

They were NOT some "crazy Pentecostal church". The Pentecostals are more discerning than most of the mainlines.
