WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is foregoing his usual round of weekend golf at a Washington suburban military base. Instead, he and his family are choosing what is for them a rare woodland getaway: a weekend at the presidential mountaintop retreat of Camp David.
The family was leaving Friday for the isolated and heavily guarded hideaway in Maryland's Catoctin Mountains. The White House said the family weekend had already been planned and that he would return to the White House on Sunday.
The escape from the White House caps a fierce week of foreign policy eruptions, highlighted by a downed commercial jet liner over Ukraine and Israel's ground offensive into Gaza, as well as maneuvers over how to address a surge of Central American migrants at the U.S. border.

They are going there to appear familial (off for a weekend of peace and quiet) and serious (as in close to D.C., as in the Camp David Accords).
When actually they can’t stand each other or themselves and Bammy will spend the whole time alone & pouting, watching ESPN and listening via earbuds to filthy rap.
I’m sure ValJar will be occupying them - I read she usually goes with them on vacay. I suspect that they’re meeting up with Soros and/or Fauxohauntus.
Finally, our military guys will be able to use their own golf course again. They aren’t allowed near it when bammy wants to practice his slice. What the king wants, the king takes. The heck with everybody else.
It’s unusual, but maybe he had the urge to check out one of his palaces that he hadn’t seen in a while.
I noticed that too.
He’s got an unusual meeting taking place there. I’d love to know who else is joining him there. It’s uber secure there and otherwise I picture him feeling like a black man feeling terribly out of place in a white world. I don’t really give a shit what he’s doing there unless it’s a potential Armageddon discussion. Since he’s inept at governing, I’d prefer to know when or how we are all gonna die. I really don’t like this president.
He needs this vacation in order to rest up for his Martha’s Vineyard vacation. Tough job for Obama. He has to make such hard choices. /sarc
The meetings are to try and keep track of his latest lies and deceptions and manipulations.
Losing one’s mind over guacamole is a terrible affliction.
You are either gonna die from global warming or die as an accused extremist. Of course, that is if Obamacare doesn’t get you first.
