Senator Rand Paul is in Silicon Valley, and the Republican lawmaker and Tea Party hero has reportedly met with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and PayPal cofounder Peter Thiel, according to reports.
What does the GOP leader want? "Cash and geeks," according to TIME.com.
Paul is hoping to fundraise among libertarian techies, whose political leanings are toward independence from government interference, meaning the red-blooded lawmaker has a shot in deep-blue California, observers say.
He wants more of the $2.7 million Thiel donated to Ron Paul's 2012 presidential run, the website reported, and along with the cash, he's hoping for some tech talent to work on his own campaign.
In other words, the free-market tech efforts like Uber and Airbnb share intellectual common ground with Paul, TIME.com reports, so he may find friends.

And tea party leader? Seriously. Where the hell do they grow this crapola??? In the woodshed connected to the outhouse?
I gueess they mean leader since he’s a Senator.
“Senate Leader” is an oxymoron.
Ask the 93% of the population who believes Congress is a dirtbag-infested cesspool what they think of Mr. Paul.
Note to Paul, you need Conservative votes to win and if you ignore us you’ll be a loser just like Romney & Mccain.
He seems to be in tune with the GOPe - perhaps they are acknowledging the difference between "GOP" and "Conservative"...
I got a great letter from Paul about the fight to protect our 2nd amendment rights. He is well aware of every roadblock being put in front of us. He surprised me at how well informed he was. He was responding to my letter to him.
I think people are going to be surprised at Senator Paul’s effectiveness in gaining votes from unexpected places, while at the same time sticking to conservative principles.
I also think he will do quite well in the upcoming Presidential race and could end up being the GOP’s nominee in the end.
Politicos are forced to become nothing more than Money grubbers.
