--SNIP-- This comes as two NYPD officers were yanked off the street Friday as cops and the Staten Island district attorneys investigated the stunning death of a suspect placed in a banned chokehold. The officers were slated for desk duty pending completion of the probe into Thursdays death of Eric Garner, 43, as he was brought down by five NYPD officers outside a Tompkinsville beauty parlor.
Loss of life is always a tragedy, said Police Commissioner Bill Bratton at a City Hall news conference. Nobody began the day with the expectation it would end the way it did.

I’m a cop and I don’t excuse it. The cops in question exceeded their departments use of force policy. Start “coloring outside the lines” and you get indicted. That’s what the use of force policy is there for, to tell you what is and is not acceptable. Personally, I’ve never liked the “cowboys” in my agency, they tend to suck others into their stupidity when they get into trouble. Fortunately my agency seems to have a good grip on this sort of thing. Please don’t assume all of us are JBT’s because we pin on a badge before we go to work.

Did you know the guy with the gun in that photo was the police chief in Saigon?

No. Not at all. There’s no way that the cops involved weren’t aware of it.

The pic was referring to the execution in the street, not the story behind the photo.
I do understand the facts behind it. The officer in this threads case knew his actions
could kill and he followed though. This is no different than bad cops shooting grandmothers
and dogs, they want the thrill of the kill. A right of passage for psychopaths.

Please dont assume all of us are JBTs because we pin on a badge before we go to work. I don't think anybody assumes all police are JBTs, but like peaceful moslems, they just don't matter.
They will neither support the victims, nor fight against the perpetrators.

Im beginning to wonder how many of todays cops are sociopaths. The 'professionalization' of LEOs means that they are selected and trained by social science university graduates. A society that lacks a traditional view of right and wrong simply can't end up with LEOs as a group that are more moral than the sinking average.

They are TRAINED to be sociopaths!

It certainly seems so. I am beginning to wonder how they’re screening these people.
