I would look to the contemporaneous accounts of the people claiming that they did it, myself.

Anything could be fake at this point. Maybe the NSA can verify the voices. But can we trust the NSA? ;-)

Personally, I believe the most likely scenario is that the plane was shot down by some drunken pro-Russian separatist fighters/terrorists who thought they were shooting at some Ukrainian military plane. But who knows…
