“Looks like a Jewish Service Center in Pasco County is housing illegals about 7 miles from my home!!!”
My home is located in a cul-de-sac consisting of seven houses in a development. I’ve lived here for 35 years. About 7-8 years ago, one of the homes was up for sale. We got word from the owner that it was to be purchased for use as a “group home.” I googled and found this:
“People who live in such a group home may be developmentally disabled, recovering from alcohol or drug addiction, abused or neglected youths, youths with behavioral or emotional problems, and/or youths with criminal records.”
At the time, three of the families living in the cul-de-sac had two children each, under the age of 10 years. My children were grown and out on their own, but I certainly did not want a group home three doors away from my house! I prepared flyers and knocked on doors of about 20 houses in the area asking the residents to attend the regularly scheduled township meeting, which was to be held a few days later. We filled the room, but the mayor, and the township attorney said there was nothing they could do. It’s the LAW that anyone could buy and occupy a group home in residential neighborhoods.
We were sick until...
One day, the potential buyer appeared. One of our neighbors was furious! He told her that if she purchased the house, he would make her life miserable, and make the lives of the residents miserable.
She never bought the home. Another couple did, and they are the nicest people!
Whew! That was scary, but it could happen again. We do not have a choice because it’s a federal law!
