Wow, the plane must have been at 30+ thousand feet.
Do they have missles that will reach that high? And, one report said it was not flying in restricted airspace.
It’s the SA-11 (possibly the SA-17) antiaircraft missile system.
It was presumably shot down by a “KRUG” a/k/a/ SA-17, which has a maximum height range of nearly twice that.
The restricted airspace was below the plane’s flight level.
They started shooting at Ukrainian high altitude plains a week or two ago. They shot down one AN-26 flying at 6000 m just few weeks ago
Missles and the 30 thousand foot question?? Heard this with Flt 800 too... Heard it many times today.. But, didn’t the USSR hit a U2 back in early 60’s which would fly at 70K feet..
