im no military guru or nothing but, if a missile will travel 77,000 feet, how are you “safe” at 33,000 feet, as per Oliver North the BUK missiles or whatever will travel up to 77,000 feet...just asking
Mike
Those SAMs are deadly travelling a mile a second.
Why anycommander in a war zone would think to shoot at a plane travelling at 33,000 feet along a known commercial flight path that is moving out of his airspace is beyond comprehension.
If shot down by a BUK1, and if traveling at 490knots at about 33000 ft, then it reads as though it took the BUK system about 5 min to acquire the target from some 72 miles away, a launch to impact about 15 seconds, then if the debris field is about 9 miles long, the aircraft must have had substantial initial damage, retained some aerodynamic properties for about 5-25 seconds before breaking up and plummeting another 40 seconds to earth. The craft appears to have skidded a long ways rather than a vertical dive.
I haven’t seen any indication of the missile trail, which should have been as prolific as the descent.
I wonder how many drones are flying around the area.
