My comment wasn't directed at you specifically, just at the regular pro-Putin modus operandi of some of our more notorious neo-Bolshevik FReepers.I understand. I despise Putin immensely, but will have to admit I admire his leadership a hell of a lot more than the stupid punk in the WH right now.

That's like admiring the leadership of a bank robber. Putin's not particularly capable or even particularly smart. Russians have a lower standard of living than Saudis, despite the fact that Russia has more mineral resources per capita. McCain is right - Russia is a gas station to the world. What Putin has going for him are (1) the resources of a mineral-rich country, (2) mindless aggression and (3) a world that, outside of the US, is mired in isolationism.
