On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Roe v Wade in January 2013, Time magazine published a surprising and iconic cover story about how the pro-choice side has been losing ever since it thought it won in 1973. The reasons Time listed were spot on:
Indeed, abortion advocates have been in an admitted state of panic for quite some time over building pro-life momentum.
But within the past several days two abortion advocates have separately admitted their side is losing
Other recent abortion articles have hit on the same theme
Here are 15 reasons why abortion proponents think pro-lifers are crushing them, as lifted from the aforementioned abortion articles. A couple were included in Times list, but most are in addition:
In a nutshell, quoting VanEgeren:
Whether its through hundreds of laws passed at the state level or the recent Hobby Lobby decision that allows companies to deny birth control coverage to employees on religious grounds, the pro-life movement is on a winning streak over access to abortions and birth control.
Its kind of like waiting for the other shoe to drop, said Elizabeth Nash, state issues manager with the Guttmacher Institute, a think-tank focused on sexual and reproductive health policy. Im not entirely sure what will happen next.
Well, heres another shoe, impossible for abortion proponents to fill. Quoting Sarah Weddington (pictured), the lawyer who successfully persuaded the Supreme Court in Roe v Wade, speaking at an event on July 12, via KnoxNews.com:
Today, the young people are so much further (along) than I was at their age, she said. They speak more languages. They go on more trips. They have to show me how to use my iPhone but one of the things we havent quite managed to do is to give them the same burning motivation to change things that we believe are wrong in the way that we did.
In other words, the pro-choice crowd has no rear guard. They killed them.
LifeNews.com Note: Jill Stanek fought to stop live birth abortions after witnessing one as an RN at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, Illinois. That led to the Born Alive Infants Protection Act legislation, signed by President Bush, that would ensure that proper medical care be given to unborn children who survive botched abortion attempts.

The pro-life movement may be “winning” marginally on abortion but it is losing on abortifacients by a much larger number. Net result is a loss.
But the culture has shifted.
I remember as a kid where every dang show on TV had a heroic woman killing her child.
Now you have most of the characters keeping them. You have openly pro life messages on secular shows.
I suspect it is because of two things.
1. Woman do not have the same amount of shame for having a child out of wedlock. For that matter, being married is outside the experience of a great many people today, it is becoming a luxury good.
2. People can see that killing a child is really killing a child. The baby isn’t a blob of tissue, it is baby. With the rise of miscarriage support groups and such, many are starting to think of a child as a child, not a parasite.
We have lost marriage, but we might just win on abortion.
Even that is starting to change.
I know of a number of women who have gone off the pill because of the side effects, and that it will kill a child.
Like abortion, there is a slow shift going on.
But this is at least a good start. More can and ought to be done.
What is truly needed is spiritual conversion to the Lord longterm.
We haven’t lost marriage. If anything, winning on abortion is likely to result in a win on marriage. Imho.
Long term maybe.
Right now, there is little association between having children and marriage. More and more women have children outside of marriage, with little or no thought of marriage. They would like to get married, someday, but for a large portion that will be impossible because of the cut in benefits, willing partners, etc.
I attended a wedding Saturday, so perhaps I am a bit optimistic.
In the meantime, incremental restrictions have contributed to the necessary task of educating and winning over the hearts and minds of the people. Abortions are becoming fewer, both as a ratio of the population and in absolute numbers despite growing population. There are many factors, including better contraception use and less sex among ignorant young people.
Overall however as Weddington laments, the next generation is not inflamed with hateful feminist ideology. They are open to the plain facts of abortion, and most are repulsed by it.
Throughout the past forty-one years there have been some drops, but then it goes back up.
The sad reality is that the number of babies murdered in the United States will reach 57 MILLION tomorrow morning.
But I believe it is the only one that can actually work.
There were any number of efforts to reduce, contain and eradicate slavery before the Civil War. But in the end it was only total and immediate emancipation that worked.

You are exactly right once you recognize the Lord and begin to live by his word, no amount of pro-choice propaganda will ever make you support that side; it fact just the opposite happens and it makes you want to join the pro-life community to fight for the innocents.
IMHO legal right to abortion has kept the Dem ranks down, do the GOP really want them to keep and raise their kids to be future Dem voters if abortion is made illegal? Old Tzu Strategem, let your enemies keep doing stupid things. Ever saw the video of the liberal girl who attacked a group of pro Life people and display on a street in Ohio. Imagine if she was forced to keep her out of wedlock child. Imagine what that child be like if she with her facist liberal attitude raised it to adult hood. Or worst has several out of wedlock babies and raised them up to be like her facist liberal mindset. Let your adversaries kill their young, just remember to keep yours and raise them to love their unborn.
This is a disturbingly pro-abortion and pro-eugenics position.
‘Right now, there is little association between having children and marriage. More and more women have children outside of marriage, with little or no thought of marriage. They would like to get married, someday, but for a large portion that will be impossible because of the cut in benefits, willing partners, etc.’
I have noticed this same trend especially among the young. They do not respect their girlfriends and if you think about it even if you father a child why marry the girl and tie your permanently to her, the child will do that but many doubt that the child is even theirs. Most all relationships seem to be, by both parties, knowingly temporary.
You can keep your inner abortionist urges to yourself or you can post elsewhere.
The article is propaganda.
But your first comment on the thread nails it.
