Why doesn’t he quote Scripture, then? We have plenty of people to help, feed, and clothe without opening our borders to the whole world.

This Pope demonstrates he is a total fool every time he speaks
I wish he would join Benedict in retirement.

This is a humanitarian crisis and the Christian response to this should be as the Pope says. That does not mean suspending whatever legal actions are normally taken against illegal immigrants. Charity can act within the law and without taking part in injustice.
Typical confused response of religious folk who really don't know what to think. You are confusing a willful invasion of our Nation, sanctioned by an illegitimate regime (due to voter fraud and improper credentials -- President's forged birth certificate and other conclusive proof he is who he says he is) with helping poor innocent illegal migrants with some bread, water, and a place to sleep -- what you feel should be the proper response of American Christians.
Have you had a good look at the ADULTS flooding into the U.S.? Do you not perceive what is really happening?

He really ought to call on those Latin American countries to foster an environment more conducive to human rights, so they wouldn’t have to risk life and limb coming to mooch here.

Has anyone heard how many “refugees” will be taken in to Vatican City?

People are leaving the Catholic Church over this issue. Or at least moving to a conservative Latin mass that is not populated by the bought.

According to Scripture, yes, he thinks before he says things like this. You first, Bubba. If the pope doesn't take them in to the Vatican, then he's a blithering hypocrite.

Does seem more in line with his chosen line of work, and the neck of the woods he sprang from.

The only quibble I have with you is when you say much of the Catholic Church. I'll concede half. We step in to defend our Church just as we would step in to defend our family. That does not mean that there is not a vehement discussion going on behind closed doors! Dispite what the world that is not Catholic thinks, we not a bunch of mind-numbed, drooling kool-aid drinkers. We just prefer to handle our business in private.

According to Scripture, yes, he thinks before he says things like this. The problem with this is that we cannot house the entire world.
Our country does do this via foreign aid, missionary workers, relief efforts, etc.
We are also a nation of laws. In Romans we do have Paul's writings on obeying the authorities. Right now, the authorities are not obeying the laws of our country.
If the Vatican wants to set an example, then open up the Vatican to house illegal immigrants.
You have the luxury of not living in the border areas based on your profile. It's easy to make these kind of statements but until you're actually on the ground you don't understand the picture. From all news accounts these areas are becomming no-man's lands. They are very dangerous.

I know exactly what to think, which does include the belief that our Prezziboy has indeed taken advantage of a humanitarian crisis to manufacture a response that is to the detriment of this country. He has also encouraged this crisis by his statements. That does not mean that those who enter should not receive humane treatment while awaiting action on their status. Which I believe should in the majority of cases be deportation.
