Laura Ingraham: Pro-Amnesty Republicans 'Not Off the Hook' on Border Crisis
breitbart.com ^ | 7/14/14 | Tony Lee

Conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham said that pro-amnesty Republicans like Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) who voted for the Senate's amnesty bill are also to blame for the current border crisis.

On Fox News Sunday, Ingraham said the message from many pro-amnesty Republicans has been, "you will be able to stay here."

"Republicans are not off the hook," she said. "If John Boehner had taken this comprehensive reform off the table early on, I don't think he probably would have had as many unaccompanied minors coming here now."

Ingraham emphasized that the "the general sense of that is deportation won't happen even if Republicans are in charge" and the illegal immigrant children will "be able to stay here, go to public schools, get Obamacare."

And on Monday, Ingraham, who was instrumental in powering Dave Brat to his shocking upset over House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), announced that she was "all in for Joe Carr" against Alexander in next month's primary. Carr has closed the gap and trails Alexander by just seven points in a recent poll conducted by a pro-Carr group.

"I'm all in for Joe Carr," Ingraham said on her show. "I think... he's no nonsense, a citizen legislator he'll be and he'll be someone who will actually listen to the people. Politicians at some point do have to listen to the concerns of the people, not just the concerns of one or two, big, fat, interest groups like either LaRaza or the Chamber of Commerce. The people still count, don't they Lamar?"

My solution is this: secure the border for real, stop government hand outs and benefits to non citizens, deport felons as arrested. If we did that, and just that, this situation would unravel itself in 2-3-4 years to a large degree. It would not be perfect, but there would be a vast improvement.

This situation evolved over 60 years of a porous border. There is absolutely nothing that will make it go away quickly. There just isn’t.

40% of illegals got here legally and overstayed their visas. We need to implement fully the US-VISIT program passed in 1996 to track and deport visa overstays.

That said, what you are advocating is attrition thru enforcement. I agree with that. No legalization period and enforce our laws. We should also make e-verify mandatory--not voluntary as it is now and then really crack down on employers who knowingly hire illegals. Shut off the job magnet.

Yes, e verify would be a good addition - but to me, not quite as important as cutting the bennies. This flood now has zip zero nada to do with jobs…this has all to do with freebies, period.

We also need to enact laws for all the greedy biz owners who hire millions of these people, over and over, as they count their profits on the backs of tax payers.

And end public assistance for anyone here illegally.

The evil corrupt have attempted to stop measures such as these at every turn. We need to force these businesses into mandatory verification of citizenship for every single employee. Like a mandatory E-verify with teeth..

Otherwise thousands of these criminal biz owners will continue to bait millions of these illegals to enter.

If caught hiring illegals, they need major fines, 2nd violations we seize their businesses and jail their butts.

A mandatory E-Verify with teeth has everything to do with this, as this epic government sponsored elimination of the American middle class has been underway and been ramping up for 30+ years.

Fine them, and then seize their f***ing businesses and jail them if they fail to get the message.

This is a must!

Yes, e verify would be a good addition - but to me, not quite as important as cutting the bennies.

According to federal law, illegals are not entitled to any federal welfare benefits. In most cases the adult illegals get such benefits thru their American born children (aka anchor babies.) The estimated number of anchor babies born annually ranges from 300,000 to 400,000. And even legal immigrants must wait five years before becoming eligible. Legal immigrants use welfare programs to a significantly greater extent than the native born.

The job magnet is the greatest attraction for both legal immigrants and illegal aliens. The fact is that over $120 billion a year is sent from the US to other countries. Mexico tops the list with $22.8 billion a year. Most of the money for the remittances is earned by working immigrants.

The top eleven countries receiving remittances from the US in 2012 are Mexico ($22.8 billion), China ($13 billion), India ($12 billion), Philippines ($10.6 billion), Nigeria ($6 billion), Vietnam ($5.7 billion), South Korea ($5.7 billion), Guatemala ($4.4 billion), El Salvador ($3.6 billion); Dominican Republic ($2.7 billion), and Honduras ($2.3 billion).

The remittances are from both legal immigrants and illegal aliens. $120 billion is being sent out of the US economy to other countries. It dwarfs foreign aid.

$123,273,000,000 in remittances were sent from United States to other countries in 2012.

This flood now has zip zero nada to do with jobs…this has all to do with freebies, period.

Nonsense. First, where do you think the families came up with the money to finance this migration? And close to half of them are joining relatives in the US who presumably have jobs. If you cut off the jobs, you will prevent most illegal immigration.

In a trafficking situation, the child is a victim and an involuntary commodity being moved across the border for an illegal purpose such as servitude or prostitution. But a leaked Immigration and Customs Enforcement intelligence report confirms that most of the children who arrive unaccompanied are smuggled, not trafficked: “Unaccompanied children are typically smuggled to the United States by human smuggling networks through established routes . . . the fees for which are most likely paid for by [their] family members residing in the United States.” The smuggling is a deplorable scenario, but it is not the same thing as trafficking.

The same ICE report reveals that about 43 percent of the unaccompanied minors are reunited with a parent soon after arriving in the United States. Under the law, an unaccompanied child is defined as one who is under the age of 18 and without a parent or legal guardian in the United States to care for him. It can reasonably be argued that upon reunification, the child should again be considered part of a family unit. That means if the custodial parents were to be deported, it would be in the best interests of the child to accompany them back to their homeland.

What we are really seeing is a reuniting of children and spouses with illegal aliens in the US in anticipation of an amnesty, de facto or by law. Obama is getting ready to use "prosecutorial discretion" to provide legal status to more than 7 million using the same rationale he did for DACA. Such a legalization would provide work permits and SSNs, just like for the estimated 560,000 DACA recipients approved to date.

We need to cut off the jobs more than the benefits, which are prohibited in most cases anyway.

Now the various kinds of welfare are the greater attraction. None of these kids, these 80 thousand kids or whatever, are coming for jobs. Many jobs have been lost since 2007 too. I doubt jobs have been greatest attraction since California started doling out the benefits bigtime, though it was for a long time.

Besides, the welfare cases are the most devastating to the economy.

Now the various kinds of welfare are the greater attraction. None of these kids, these 80 thousand kids or whatever, are coming for jobs.

The attraction for the "children," many of whom are teenagers, is that they are being reunited with their parent. There has been a large number of what they call family units, mothers with their children. If the 43% number is true, i.e., 43% of those coming across are joining their relatives, then this is the motivation. And there is no doubt that the signal sent by Obama's DACA amnesty in 2012 was that all you needed to do was to get here while under 16 and you can stay. In fact, that is a correct perception.

Historical ICE deportation records show a steady decline in the number of youths (under age 18) removed from 2008 to 2013. The number of Central American minors deported declined despite the increased number of minors arriving over the last several years. Ninety-four percent of the Central American minors deported in 2013 were originally arrested by the Border Patrol (not by ICE in the interior). The number of deported youths here refers to any alien aged 17 or younger at the time of deportation.

So specifically, what welfare benefits are the "children" seeking? Why are we not being flooded by Mexican children? Why the surge since 2012?

Many jobs have been lost since 2007 too. I doubt jobs have been greatest attraction since California started doling out the benefits bigtime, though it was for a long time.

Jobs with higher pay are THE attraction for adult legal immigrants and illegal aliens. Yes, both use welfare to a greater extent than the native born, but immigrants are getting the jobs and the native born are not getting the jobs. You can work and still receive welfare.

77 percent of immigrants from El Salvador (ages 25 to 54) have a job, as do 74 percent of Guatemalan immigrants and 73 percent of Honduran immigrants. The corresponding figure for natives is 76 percent.

Besides, the welfare cases are the most devastating to the economy.

Our legal immigration policies import poverty. 20% of the adult legal immigrants lack a high school diploma. We have been bringing in 1.1 million legal immigrants for almost 25 years. And when you increase the supply of labor, you put more native born on welfare because the immigrants are taking their jobs and depressing wages.

SHOCK VIDEO>>> Illegals Arrive in Bus and Shop at Walmart With EBT Cards--North Carolina

Sylvia Locklear was on her lunch break Sunday afternoon around 1:30 p.m. when she noticed something strange happening in the parking lot of Walmart in Concord, NC – there was busloads of what appeared to be adult illegal immigrants being dropped off to shop for everything from food to pillows and blankets. Angered by her discovery, Sylvia decided she was going to investigate a little further, and what she found should outrage every American citizen.

In the video above, Sylvia can be heard talking to another person who presumably was curious about what was going on, so she explained to them that prior to taking the video she had tried to talk to the people on the bus. Not only could they barely speak English, but one of them had said they had just arrived in America.

We all know that this has been happening, however, the sheriff of her town had said that they weren’t allowing any illegals to be shipped in, so it would appear as if the Obama regime is once again placing undue burdens on the states and not even letting them know what’s going on. What’s worse is that in the comments under the video she posted to Facebook, Sylvia said that when she was in line behind them that they were using government-issued EBT cards to pay for their purchases.

I don’t think hardly any of these children have parents in this country…yet. I think it’s the reverse. I think they want the kids here…they’ll ship them to some phony “relative” - and then get their parents brought in later.

That is not what ICE is finding out when it interviews these "children." I gave you the link and reference, which is a leaked ICE memo. 43% are joining their parent. "The same ICE report reveals that about 43 percent of the unaccompanied minors are reunited with a parent soon after arriving in the United States"

When you look at the amount of the remittances being sent back to those countries, why is it so difficult to believe that they are not joining a parent? We also have large numbers of "family units" that consist of mothers and their children.

Legally, the illegal alien child or the illegal alien parent cannot sponsor anyone to enter this country.

The fact that they are issuing them EBT cards is the issue, not where they are shopping.

NC is headed in the same direction as VA. VA is purple headed deep blue by the end of this decade. NC is also purple and immigration is changing the demographics rapidly.

Because many of these children were sent alone BY their parents, in Honduras, Guatemala, etc. And just because someone is remitting, doesn’t mean they are legit parents.

Why do you continue to discount the information contained in the leaked ICE report? Do you really think that both parents are residing in their home countries?

I don’t totally discount it, but it doesn’t make sense in light of other things we know about this invasion. It just doesn’t.

What I would like to know is why, after me trying for like 5 posts in a row, to find things we agree on (and we do agree on a lot) - you insist on arguing????

That’s the more important question IMO.

It makes lots of sense to me. I have been working on this issue for over 7 years. I lobby on the Hill and in Richmond on this issue. I know and work with all the players on our side from NumbersUSA, CIS, FAIR, Heritage, etc.

I don't question for a minute the leaked ICE memo. In case you weren't aware, the ICE agents' union has been a thorn in the side of Obama. On June 10, 2010 the ICE union (AFL-CIO) representing 7,000 agents voted unanimously a vote of no confidence against the ICE Director and his Deputy.

10 ICE agents also filed a legal suit against Obama for preventing them from doing their job under the law. I am bringing this up to help you understand that the rank and file ICE agents are on our side and they have been leaking information and data to us.

There is no doubt in my mind that this has been orchestrated by the WH. I have labeled this as Obama's Reichstag Fire. The idea is to flood the border with illegals using the he 2008 Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act, or TVPRA, also known as the Wilberforce Act, as the loophole to force the House to pass comprehensive immigration reform.

The big danger here is that the GOPe and the Dems working with the WH will use this emergency funding bill as the vehicle to ram CIR thru now. This Sunday, Mike McCaul mentioned that he wanted to put the border control bill that passed thru his committee to the floor for a vote. It is a bad bill for many reasons, which I won't go into now.

If we have an amnesty, all of these "children" (and spouses) will be allowed to join their illegal alien parent in the US. By allowing these "children" to flood in, Obama is essentially creating an amnesty and reuniting families in the US. Although not covered by DACA, it is only a matter of time before they are included. And remember, this:

The Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals or “DACA” program gives amnesty by executive fiat and work authorizations to illegal aliens under the age of 30 who claimed they arrived in the country before the age of 16. ICE officers would later report that this amnesty was being applied to adult illegal aliens who have been arrested for criminal offenses. In an interview the same day, Secretary Napolitano admitted that DHS “internally set it up so that the parents are not referred for immigration enforcement if the young person comes in for deferred action,” thereby further expanding the scope of the non-enforcement directive.

In September we can expect some huge unilateral actions by Obama in terms of immigration. This will be intended to galvanize the base before the midterms and make immigration the centerpiece rather than Obamacare, the IRS scandal, and so many other scandals. The Reps will be playing defense. And the sad part is that the GOPe agrees with Obama on CIR.
