Funny, there’s lots of qualified, credentialed people over 50 who can’t find work.

If they can write a SQL query and they know how to write web apps or mobile apps I am sure they can find work.

Credentials are not very valuable. I got my degree in 1984. The world has changed. And few software firms believe in computer related credentials. They can be bought.

Can they pass a test on the newer technology? Do you have have business knowledge that you can add to your technical knowledge? If yes. They should be able to find work.

See post 45. Got an employer who claims most of his US candidates cannot pass basic software test. Either he does not know or knows the game that is played. Interview 100 people, pick US candidates from no name schools and foreign candidates from great schools. Subject them to a test, viola, US candidates fail and foreign ones pass. See the US has a shortage of skilled IT workers, need more H-1B slots!!!! It is very funny, IT industry presents themselves as cool and progressive, but closer look they are no more ruthless as the industrial barons of the late 19th century. Keep this up and main street Americans will quit the Tea Party and join OWS. Atleast OWS will march to CEO homes in masks and holding torches and put the fear in them.
