Moments ago, at 4:22am local time, a major 6.8 magnitude quake struck eastern Japan, off the Fukushima coast.

I can’t recall the details of the last one that did major damage off the top of my head..

Then after the Tsunami warning...
THEN after first taking a reading of how hot the surf & sand are (bq).
But I suppose not necessarily in that order.

I remember being here on Free Republic and watching via link the inland tsunami happening real time on Japanese TV (helicopter TV crew was filming)
It was horrible

In the *two* days before the 311 9.0 quake, there were some strong EQs in the same area as the big one, two in the low 7s and I think also a couple in the 6s.
