This is just great...the “native” Hawaiians will then demand (and get) welfare payments from US citizens so they can sit around, eat spam, dance and stare at the sunsets. That’s all the world needs is yet another self-entitled class of hangers-ons.

How about this scenario. We let them have Hawaii, they pay us for the bases. Hawaii degenerates to what happened to Subic Bay, Philippines, no welfare, no subsidies, the economy collapses, we all go back and pick up cheap real estate and it becomes a place frozen in time like Cuba.
