Liberal Fox News co-host Bob Beckel’s use of the word “Chinamen” when discussing the “national security” threat China poses to the United States apparently caused such a stir at the Huffington Post that an “office-wide gasp” occurred.
Huffington Post senior political reporter Amanda Terkel and intern David McCabe both took to Twitter to talk about the “Chinamen” debacle.

Beckel’s an ass, but I find it ridiculous that of all the derogatory, demeaning and disgusting things he has said, someone found “Chinamen” over the top?
She must be American, not Asian.
The politically correct term is Asian.

Like saying someone is Caucasian, the term Asian doe not identify the country referred to.
Where were all these PC warriors when Senator Byrd (D-KKK) used the “Mother Of All Racial Slurs” twice on Fox News Sunday?
Could it be that Byrd got special consideration because he was a powerful member of the Amerikan House of Lords, and Beckel is just a low-level flack?
I’ve heard Orientals use the word Oriental

It is okay as long as it is used as ‘banter’ amongst Orientals.
However, if the NFL (after receiving a complaint from an Oriental that Occidentals were using the term derogatorily), banned the use of the word in and around any NFL Facility.
Which prompted the aforementioned Orientals to sue, saying THEY were being discriminated against using a word comfortable to them and the NFL banning it meant the Orientals were being ‘victimized’.
I seem to remember Sister Mary ______ telling us that the term Oriental was pertaining to the East (Asia) and Occidental was pertaining to the West (all NOT Asia I guess).
Of course She also told us Hawaii and Alaska were territories and an area in SE Asia was known as Burma and Indochina and, at the time French Indochina was in the news.
Guess she was wrong there also....
I did not see that, but that would endear him to me. I know he hates China.
He could have pissed them off by using the term “Mongoloid” to use the old classification.
Asian would include Indian and Paks.
Asia is a freakin’ big place.
Of course, no one’s ever “offended” by any of this until they’re told they should be.
Beckel is certainly exhibiting chinks in his liberal armor.

People aren’t Oriental. Objects are Oriental.
