Liberal Fox News co-host Bob Beckel’s use of the word “Chinamen” when discussing the “national security” threat China poses to the United States apparently caused such a stir at the Huffington Post that an “office-wide gasp” occurred.
Huffington Post senior political reporter Amanda Terkel and intern David McCabe both took to Twitter to talk about the “Chinamen” debacle.

It’s also racist to say Oriental.
The politically correct term is Asian.

I found that out about Oriental a few years ago.
The problem is “Asian” isn’t specific enough. It’d include Indians.
Oriental was a perfectly fine word for... those from the Orient.
It’s interesting the ‘moving target’ of the PC police. Negro was preferred by black folks. Then black. Then African-American. I’m sure A-A will be offensive to blacks in about 20 years.

chinaman isn’t a racist term.
“chink” referring to a person, not a gouge out of armor, is a racialy-charged term.

Each group apparently gets to figure out what offends them for PC rules. Unless it’s white people, and nobody gives a flip about those crackers.

Giving China a middle finger salute is.far more offensive than saying Chinamen, but me not being Asian, perhaps I can never know how they feel about it.
