Thanks,

It is a rough area, my wife and her family are from Leyte, but her brother has been in Mindanao for a while now with the police department. Her brother is married with a 2-year old. My wife is devastated, and her Mom told her on the phone this morning to prepare for the worst!

My best to you Torquay. Have a Daughter-in-Law from Manila so have had a few discussions regarding the southern region of the islands.

I will pray that when news comes that the news will be good and your Brother-in-Law will be found safe. Please keep me updated and my prayers will be for good news and that your Brother-in-Law has rejoined his family and his child.

I have been a FReeper since 2000. I have moved to the Philippines and love the life I now have, with a sweet Filipina wife.

I live in Davao City, but I have lots of American friends here, as well as many FReeper friends, who care about what happens to those we know. We see posts daily asking for prayers for family members and friends of FReepers. I am one of many FReepers that care.

I feel sorry for those that can't see the forest for the trees...

Torq, prayers are up that there will be a happy ending. But, I have friends here who are active and retired Philippine Military and Police. They say that anything can happen, and most likely this would be a chance for the NPA to trade for something they want. The NPA are always trying the patience of the authorities here. In Davao, it is relatively safe. It is extremely safe when compared to Chicago or Los Angeles!!!

They also tell me that when theirs are kidnapped, that they become like our US Marines, and will hunt down and kill those responsible... and show no mercy! NPA probably took theses guys as leverage and know the result would not go well if anything happens!
