NEWNAN – David Perdue has effectively erased the lead Jack Kingston had enjoyed in the July 22 Republican Senate runoff, according to a survey released Thursday.

Perdue told about three-dozen supporters during a campaign stop in this Atlanta suburb that he’s feeling the momentum. The day before, Kingston greeted diners at the Varsity drive-in and also expressed confidence.

The poll for Morris News and Fox5 of Atlanta shows Kingston with 43 percent and Perdue with 41, essentially tied since the difference falls within the 2.7 percent margin of error. Another 17 percent remain undecided.

InsiderAdvantage conducted the survey by phone and online Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday among 1,278 likely voters or those who have already voted early.

Perdue, a retired corporate executive and political newcomer, came in first in the May primary with Kingston second out of a seven-candidate field. But the candidates who finished third and fourth, Karen Handel and Phil Gingrey, have since endorsed Kingston as have a handful of his congressional colleagues and newspapers around the state.

Kingston just needs to keep running that hilarious ad where Obama calls up and leaves him a message to leave his boy Perdue alone and then details everything Perdue supports that he supports. Its hysterical.

Kingston has one of the best Conservative voting records in the Congress. He is about as opposed to Obama initiatives and Immigration policies as anyone. So, why aare some people on this website promoting an untested businessman against a proven conservative? Did anyone listen to Kingston this morning on the Laura Ingraham show? She was praising him and Laura is no wilting RINO. So what’s up with this Perdue business?

Herman Cain supports Perdue.

“So what’s up with this Perdue business?” Ask yourself which one is most likely owned by the hidden oligarchs. It isn’t Kingston, as attested by his record in Congress!

I’m not voting for someone who has spent their adult life in office.

And I know Jack pseudo-personally, and I like him personally.

I’ve met and spoken with Perdue. One-on-one. I’ll vote for him. He answered my second amendment questions with the ease and clarity that I seek. I’m not sure that Jack even shoots anymore...

No, I did not vote for Perdue in the Primary.

The Age of the career politician has to end. I’m willing to defy even my personal friends to help facilitate its occurrence.

Not sure if you’re referring to me since I posted it. I’m just keeping people apprised of what’s going on election-wise.

I’ll be voting for Perdue as well. Sick of career politicians. Kingston is not a bad guy, but there’s a reason all the entrenched politicians are supporting him.

Sometimes an entrenched politician who is a good conservative may be better than a wannabee politician who is unproven.

Yes. And best of all, if Perdue loses to Kingston I won’t be upset.

I’ll still vote in November (for Kingston at that point).

Well that’s your choice. But I can tell you if we elect Perdue what we will get is Saxby Chabliss’ third term. The guy is for common core and he is open to raising taxes. As if GA didn’t already tax everything that moves.

The other reason I won’t vote for Perdue is because he has no record to look at. He can say whatever he wants and then turn around when elected and do something else. He will be a GOPe guy. Whatever they want to pass he will vote for it.

“who is our good guy in this race?”

My first choice was for the real good guy Dr. Paul Broun. Second choice another good person Karen Handel. Kingston is the more attractive choice at this point. His voting is pretty conservative and lot better than the potted plant Saxby Chabliss who is retiring ahead of getting kicked out.

It’s cool.

Careful though: if you refuse to vote for anyone who does not have a “voting record” then you are kind of boxing yourself in to “professional politicians” only?

“He [Perdue] will be a GOPe guy.”

Are you saying that Kingston - the life-long GOP politician - is not the GOPe?

As I said before - I generally like Kingston - but let’s not create fantasies that he is some Cruz-type active conservative champion.

He is GOP faithful. Always. Good and bad.

I agree with Georgia Girl. I would also add that while both Perdue and Ted Cruz don’t have voting records (pre office), Cruz was already involved in politics having taken several cases all the way to the supreme court arguing pro liberty. Even when Herman Cain was running, he didn’t have a record, but he is an outspoken conservative on talk radio. It’s one thing to have no voting record, but at least have a history of being conservative or advocating conservatism, but it’s another to have no record at all. Additionally, I always fear that big CEO types are like Mitt Romney. The reason being that most big CEOs are used to working with the government (accepting bailouts, lobbying for self beneficial regulations, etc) and are far less often free market advocates.

Oh Great. I want some clear direction between Kingston and Perdue and once again, all I get is “entrenched politician” (ugh) and untested businessman. I would be for Perdue I think, except that the GOP is for him, and I certainly don’t trust the GOP!!!!
I like Herman a LOT and if he’s for Perdue.....maybe I could be.

I like Herman a LOT and if he’s for Perdue.....maybe I could be.Herman is a businessman, like Perdue. Erick Erickson is more involved in the political side and he supports Kingston. His reasoning is that CEOs like Cain and Perdue are used to giving orders and having them instantly obeyed. Because of this they usually have a hard time in Washington. Kingston is used to the give and take and he has a record of sticking to Conservative principles. I'll vote for him in the runoff but I will support whoever wins in November.
