Because it makes the story look more retarded is the only thing I can guess. I think he claimed that fingerprints could be lifted from the originals and he wanted to protect the “anonymous sources” by copying and burning the originals. How convenient.
I always ask that if he was a journalism professor and a student gave that shaky story to him as a basis of their assignment, what kind of grade would he give them?
