I now pronounce you spouses

How romantic. "Spouse" has such a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

Unfortunately, "spouse" is defined as "a husband or wife, considered in relation to their partner," so I think the PC police will be trying again soon. How about, "I now prouncue you significant others"?

Well, back in the old days, they said man and wife. They changed that to husband and wife due to women’s lib. Now the next step is a term such as spouse which has no gender identification to it.
